A few highlights from March 2007:

Continued growth in Second Life: I really figured that SL would be in the trough of discontent by now but they continue to press on.  This past month, the European Union has expressed interest in opening up a digital embassy in SL; judge Richard Posner entered Second Life to promote his upcoming […]

Last night I headed out to the Radio/TV Correspondents’ Dinner after-parties.  I wasn’t cool enough to get an invite to the dinner but on the bright side I didn’t have to wear a tuxedo so I was happy about that.
Talk Radio News threw one hell of a party and I really have to give it […]

On Joe Beaulaurier’s blog, he outlines the new PRWeb ‘media visibility’ package. Alternatively, you can read the ‘official’ statement through the press release.

At a recent conference I spoke at, I remember one of the audience members asking, “When does anyone have the time to blog?”
The issue of effort involved is an interesting one.  I think there is a common conception that blogging is some form of activity that exists completely outside the realm of a professional’s daily […]

Google has purchased the coolest graphic tool I have ever seen in my entire life from Gapminder, a non-profit organization in Sweden.  With the tool, you can actually watch trends happening over time through a bubble graph that charts three variables.  There are all sorts of cool extras though - such as color coding according […]

Hitwise has published a table describing market share to to the Top 20 Social Networking Sites.  It looks like MySpace is still dominant - with a market share of just over 80%.
Looks like that $500 million that old Rupert paid out is continuing to look like a bargain.

The first talk I attended after lunch was given by Katie Paine from KDPaine & Partners, which focused on how to measure social media.  Katie offered a pretty complete framework for measurement of social media that included:

Defining goals
Prioritizing audiences and needs within those goals
Determining indicators of success
Picking an analytical ‘tool’ - I would say ‘methodology’ […]

The day began with a keynote from David Weinberger, a commentator at National Public Radio.  Shel Israel has written a great synopsis of the keynote that I would like to direct your attention to.
After the keynote, the event separated into a number of different ‘tracks’.  As my interests varied, I sort of wandered between the […]

Yesterday morning, I was a bit downcast by Vegas.  I have to say that things started to really pick up as the day progressed.  First off, I was actually fairly impressed by the Venetian (even though I did get lost again).  I was absolutely disoriented when I got to the fake plaza in the Venetian, which […]

After my flight was delayed leaving from Reagan National, I arrived late last night into MaCarran International Airport feeling exhausted. I headed over to my hotel, the Luxor, and after wandering around for about fifteen minutes, finally found the reception desk. After another fifteen-minute walk to my hotel room, I finally arrived and […]
