Yesterday, a fake article was posted to the tech blog Engadget, claiming that the launch date for the iPhone and Mac OS Leopard would be pushed back several months.  Despite Apple’s quick response, the news on Engadget caused a 2.7% dip in Apple’s stock value.

If anything, the blog posting’s impact on the stock price should be an indicator for the influence that highly visible social media can have on the market.
