MyRagan.com

Ragan Communications has launched a social networking site that is tailored for PR professionals.  The first thing I noticed was the video greeting from their conference director, Rebecca Anderson, which is a smart move in my opinion because Rebecca is beautiful and well spoken, but the video could have been cut a bit better.  I guess it does have a bit of that YouTube feel to it but I could have done without all the cross fades and the ambient noise.

Ragan is a great organization and in just a short amount of time they have gained quite a few new users.  Launching a social networking platform seems like a perfect compliment to their core benefit propositions.  As long as they stay dedicated to the platform, I’m sure they will get it right.

    Hi, Ether–

Thanks for mentioning MyRagan and for your astute analysis of same. (Be patient with us on video stuff; we’re ink-stained wretches, dinosaurs with two feet out of the tar pit.)

As for being dedicated to that platform, that’s going to be a big part of my job–and in 15 years working with Ragan, it’s just about the most exciting thing I’ve ever done.

Come one, come all! We’re having a party.

Thanks so much for noticing http://www.myragan.com

Yes, the video is a bit rough and yes Rebecca is a gem.

We do love the idea of welcoming members with a new video each week. We would highlight upcoming features and brief our audience on what is inside the site, i.e. lively chats in the Forum, downloadable free reports, etc.

Thanks again for your review. We’ll try to live up to it.
