I have been using Yahoo! mail for about 8 years or so and was a little surprised to see an error message when I attempted to log-in this afternoon.

Personally, I like the informal tone of the message and I have absolutely no doubt that the alarms are literally “blaring in the basement” right now.  Also, the glitch definitely won’t have me looking for a new e-mail provider anytime soon.

Technologies always have shortcomings regardless of whether we are talking about a global brand used by millions or a small shop in the Silicon Valley that services 10 clients.  As much effort as we all put into QA testing, monitoring, etc. there are always going to be circumstances that lead to unforeseen errors.

During these times it is always a good idea to remind ourselves that technologies are imperfect and head to the water cooler (or soda fountain) for a drink.
